We are excited to announce GRIT Marketing Group is now under new, but very familiar, ownership. After careful consideration, Founder Julie Cross is honored to have officially passed the torch to GRIT’s Creative Director and Chief Operating Officer, Lissa Scott, who will now serve as owner and president.

Fourteen years ago, Julie founded GRIT (originally Moxie), with the intent to build an agency that was different, one that led with strategic insights and was powered by a steadfast focus on delivering results for clients through an approach that prioritized long-term relationships over short-term financial gains. Lissa joined the team nearly at the start and has been instrumental in shaping the company for the last 14 years.

Julie shares:

As I look back, I am humbled by the clients, partners, and team members (past and present) who placed their trust in my vision and have been part of GRIT’s journey.
The past few years have been anything but typical, and I’m grateful to say the company is stronger than ever. Throughout it all, it’s the GRIT team that continues to make success possible. A company is more than one person and it’s their drive and passion that has always been and will continue to be our greatest strength.
The decision to take this step for GRIT is not one I took lightly. Ensuring the team and our clients would be in good hands was paramount to the path I’ve chosen. During her time with the company, Lissa has been instrumental in shaping GRIT as our Creative Director, Chief Operating Officer and as a trusted friend and advisor. She embodies the characteristics upon which GRIT was built and takes over as leader to a team who is excited to stand by her as they were to me for all these years. I know GRIT’s future is bright with Lissa at the helm.

Lissa is grateful and excited to be carrying the GRIT tradition of excellence forward into a new era and is humbled by the trust placed in her by Julie to carry on the legacy she created.

Lissa shares:

When I first started to work with Julie all those years ago, I couldn’t have dreamed of all we would go through together. As I take this next exciting step on behalf of GRIT, I am grateful for each moment in that journey and everything I’ve had the opportunity to learn along the way.
It is my promise to stay true to the values and commitment to client success that have been at the heart of GRIT from the beginning. As Creative Director and COO, I’ve had the good fortune to work on behalf of nearly every client across GRIT’s history and I’m thrilled to continue to build and grow those connections in my new role. My commitment is to continue to foster the culture Julie created to deliver outstanding work for every client we serve by focusing on supporting the GRIT team professionally and personally. Their drive and dedication are at the heart of the quality of work our partners count on us to deliver each day.
It is my honor to carry forward what Julie started 14 years ago, working with our team to deliver the same level of transparency, passion, and integrity our clients and partners have come to count on, while continuing to guide the company toward client-focused growth as we move into the future.

Luckily, we don’t have to say goodbye to Julie (you didn’t think you could get rid her that easily, did you?).We are thrilled to share that she will be staying on as part of the team in the coming months to help ensure a smooth transition. Both Julie and Lissa are available to share additional information and you can also click here to check out some answers to some questions we know you may have.

As we say thank you to Julie and congratulations to Lissa, we do so with hearts filled with sincere gratitude to you, our partners, clients and friends who make the work we do possible every day. It is an honor to get to work beside you. THANK YOU!
