While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused uncertainty and challenges for many individuals and businesses, it has also given us an opportunity to sit back and practice gratitude. Below are a few items some of the members of our team are grateful for during this time both at work and at home.

Julie Cross (President)- “I love the extra moments with my kids especially the impromptu walks and family dinners (and we have a full house with all five being home from high school, college and work, so while it’s extra work, it’s worth it). I’m grateful for my husband and his support (and the honey do list he has been killing). I am also thankful for my friends who have kept me sane and filled me with laughter. Hello Fresh has been a blessing by providing us with meals to eat. I am so thankful for the food on our table because I know how many people are struggling right now. I am also grateful for the new business GRIT has gained over the last six weeks and the business we have from our current clients. The projects, clients and companies we have had to opportunity to work with are amazing. But mostly, I’m so thankful for the health of our team and clients – that they are safe and staying healthy during this crazy time.”

Betsy Liou (Office Manager) – During this time of uncertainty I am thankful that my family still has their health. I am thankful that I have coworkers that lift each other up. I am thankful for the internet so that we can still meet up without the fear of passing the virus on. I am thankful for all the frontline people that are taking care of us. I am thankful for the scientists that are trying to find a solution to keep this virus under control. I am thankful that this too shall pass and one day we will be able to enjoy life without fear of this virus.”

Lissa Scott (Creative Director) – “Working AND playing teacher, short order cook and cleaning person can get overwhelming, but I am so blessed to have flexibility with GRIT to make it all work – truly. And, on top of that, a huge shout out to my kids’ teachers (and all the teachers) who are rolling with this new normal and being one constant in their routine when they need it most.”

Abby McGinnis (Client Services) – I feel blessed for so many reasons. Personally, my family and friends are healthy, and we’ve been able to stay connected in some pretty amazing ways. At GRIT, we are so fortunate to have the gift of flexibility of schedules and the support of Julie through a true understanding and empathy for the work-life chaos that can arise on any given day in this ‘new normal.’ This makes it immensely easier to juggle the roles, forgive the shortcomings and make it all work. I’m thankful for clients who trust us to help navigate them through this, plan beyond it and for the chance to connect with them on a regular basis. Above all, I’m thankful for the amazing attitude and grace of my daughter through everything. She keeps us smiling, always looks on the bright side and makes sure our days are happy.”

Mallory Gunzenhauser (Project Manager) – I am thankful for my family and the good health we have experienced so far. I am also very thankful for grocery delivery services and the local businesses that have begun offering home delivery, like Square One Coffee and Buona Tavola, both in Lancaster. They have been a huge help in allowing us to keep our social distance and still enjoy some of our favorite treats!”

Kaylee Weigle (Coordinator/Project Manager) – “I have a lot to be grateful for during this time. I am thankful for my job and the ability to work remotely. I am also grateful for good books and Netflix shows, which have kept me entertained during the stay-at-home order. Most of all, I am grateful for the health of my family and friends, especially my Mom and best friend, who are medical professionals taking care of the sick during this time.”

Devon Buettner (Digital Marketing Specialist) – “I am grateful for the time spent at home with my family. I am also thankful for the extra time I have to work on projects around the house and do activities I enjoy, like playing video games. Above all, I am grateful for the health of my family, friends, and myself. Although daily life has been much completely altered, I know everyone close to me is doing okay!”

At GRIT, even during these uncertain, challenging times, we have so much to be grateful for. We encourage everyone to find something to be thankful for amidst all the craziness and change. Remember, we are in this together. Take care and be well!
