Why GRIT? Why Now?

A message from our President, Julie Lando

It’s been almost eight years since Moxie first opened its doors. As I look to the future, I’m excited and extremely optimistic.

This summer we were fortunate to handle the public relations for the record-breaking 2015 U.S. Women’s Open. This landmark event was one of the catalysts for announcing the opening of a second office in Lancaster to better serve our client’s needs. We are excited to announce we have temporarily joined the Candy Factory, a vibrant coworking community in Lancaster, as we look for a permanent space in the downtown area.

In addition, we have hired Nicole Bromley LaMar as Managing Director of this second location. Nicole brings a wealth of marketing, PR and business development experience to the team, and we were excited to have her join us in June. I’m also pleased to announce Abby McGinnis will assume the Managing Director role of the York office and Client Services Director for the entire company. Abby has been a rock for not only our clients but also for our team, and I have no doubt our clients are in the best hands possible. These changes position us strategically for future growth, giving me the opportunity to grow the business while staying involved in the strategic direction of the company and our clients.

However, as we have traveled through this journey, we understand in order to avoid market confusion, there is one aspect of the company that needs to be changed – and that is the name Moxie.

In 2008 when the company was born, Moxie was a perfect name and unique to the region. It represented the strength and courage it took for me to start this new venture and embodied the characteristics I wanted to inspire in clients and my team. However, over the last eight years, this company has grown tremendously and today, it is truly about the team and our…

  • Courage to try new things.
  • Always following through and doing what we say we will (and when).
  • Resiliency and creativity and most importantly …
  • Setting a goal and striving to achieve excellence each and every day.

Quite honestly it’s about having GRIT.

Similar to when we changed our logo four years ago to better reflect who we were as a company, we believe now is the time to change our name to better position ourselves for the future. As a team, we believe in GRIT because it’s the attitude every team member brings to their work every day.

Over the course of the next month we will be formally transitioning from Moxie to GRIT—during this time will have also have quite a few announcements to share regarding our new office location and additional staff that will be joining the team.

So please stick around and watch as we embark down this new path. It’s been quite a journey already and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes our team.
