The Future Looks Bright for Tanner

He’s the youngest member of the GRIT team and at 18 years-old, Tanner Sutherland is already making a splash in the world of graphic design. Here at GRIT we’ve always believed in partnering up with area schools to give aspiring marketers some hands-on, practical experiences before they dive into a career in marketing and we were excited to welcome Tanner to the team for the next year.

A Senior on the Move

Tanner comes to us from York County School of Technology where he is a senior. When he was told he could go out and find a job during his last year of school through the school’s Cooperative Education Program, he sent letters to a bunch of area marketing agencies. He knew he had an interest in graphic design and he wanted to get a good feel of what it was like to work at a full-service agency.

Dedicated to Education

Thankfully for us, our company President, Julie Lando was the only person to get back to him. Win for us! Julie, who’s always been a strong advocate of partnering up with area schools was excited to hear about the co-op program.

“Tanner made a great first impression and reminded me a lot of my son Cooper and I just wanted to help him,” stated Julie Lando. “He has such a positive attitude and hunger to learn that is contagious to the team and is wise beyond his years. He also has an incredible graphic design instinct and we’ve loved being a part of his growth on projects. We are very fortunate to have him on our team.”

Agency Life

Nearly six-months into the job, Tanner says there’s a lot more involved in agency life than he thought, and it can be stressful at times, but he’s super glad he is here! Tanner plays an instrumental role in designing and developing brands for our clients, and is currently working on putting a behind-the-scenes video together, showing the day-to-day operations here at GRIT Marketing Group. More to come on that!

In the meantime, hear from Tanner himself on his experiences at GRIT…and hey, at least Julie provided him with safety goggles for the Nerf wars! #SafetyFirst

A big thank you to Tanner Sutherland and York County School of Technology for reaching out to us! GRITful for you!
