Farewell From Alexa

It still feels like just yesterday.
I was standing outside with my friends at the YCP activities fair in the burning sun (although I am missing that August weather now!), and we were getting ready to set up the PRSSA table. Waiting for others to arrive, I scrolled through my phone, and I was so excited to see that I had an email from Moxie!

As I read through the email (for all of three seconds), I was excited to read that I had secured the Fall internship. So excited, in fact, that I screamed and my friends all looked at me like I was crazy, and then I called my mom. Of course she was ecstatic, and within an hour my whole family knew of my good news.

It still feels like just yesterdaybut I can’t believe it’s already December, and tomorrow is my last day here.

I can proudly say that I have learned so much from this agency. The whole team at Moxie is welcoming, friendly and creative. They were always willing to help me what whatever it was I needed, and trust me I had a lot of questions …

“Does this count as a news story?”
“Am I using the scanner correctly?”
“Does this ad look good?”
… and the ever popular “can I borrow your ruler for ad values?”

It takes a lot to run a successful agency, but everyone already knows that. What I didn’t know was that “a lot” consists of a million little things that I never even thought of before Moxie, from compiling media kits to distributing fliers and everything in-between. My days at Moxie consisted of rifling through newspapers, calling media contacts and local businesses, scanning media coverage, creating reports of all kinds, planning social media posts, and many more different things. I’ve worked on so many projects here that I can’t even decide which my favorite was.

This internship has taught me more than any one of my classes have.

You’re all rock stars, but I’m sure you knew that already. From staying extra hours to coming in super early, it is obvious that you really love what you do. One of the first things I noticed here (besides the Moxie green wall), is that you are all so passionate about your work. Thank you for sharing some of that passion with me this semester and for really showing me what it takes to succeed in this business. I’ll miss Moxie a lot, and I want you all to know that I look up to each and every one of you. Thanks again for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Thank you for all of your hard work this semester! You were a true asset to our team, and your willingness to try new things and take on new projects truly stood out. Follow your heart and have fun in all you do … wherever your future leads you. Thanks for joining us and best wishes on your next “PR” adventure!
